Flypower: From Indonesia to the World
Every success story starts from the ground up, and so does the history of Flypower’s inception. In early 2002, Fung Permadi, along with Hariyanto Arbi, who had just retired from the Cipayung National Training Center, set out with a great ambition to start a badminton equipment business.
Hari believed in the philosophy that every venture must begin from the bottom. He initiated the Flypower business by launching his first product: badminton shoes. To introduce this product, he collaborated with players from PB Djarum and athletes from the Cipayung National Training Center.
Before the shoes were launched, they underwent direct testing by the 1993 and 1994 All England champion, as well as the 1995 World Champion in Lausanne, Switzerland. The results of these trials were then consulted to ensure that a comfortable and high-quality product could be created, one that would be suitable for anyone aspiring to succeed on the badminton court.
The initial response to these shoes was overwhelmingly positive. Players and members of the national badminton community were drawn to this new product. Encouraged by this, Hari became even more determined to continue developing the business he had started.
In addition to shoes, Flypower soon expanded its product line to include other badminton equipment, such as shirts, shorts, rackets, and supporting accessories. With each new product launch, Flypower always kept pace with market demand and trends.
The performance and quality of these products were continually improved, from design and materials to comfort, all aimed at enhancing player performance on the court.
Beyond just improving product quality, Flypower also began actively participating in advancing badminton achievements in Indonesia. After frequently sponsoring local tournaments, Flypower took a significant step by becoming a co-sponsor of the most prestigious badminton championship in the country, the Djarum National Circuit, in 2011 and 2012.
Furthermore, Flypower currently fully supports three badminton clubs in Indonesia: the U-19 team of PB Djarum Kudus, Gunadharma Bandung, and Semen Gresik in East Java. Flypower has also twice been directly involved in sponsoring the Djarum Superliga in 2009 and 2013 in Surabaya. The 2013 Djarum Superliga champion, Musica Champion Kudus, was also fully supported by Flypower.
Like a snowball, Flypower’s distribution has continued to grow and expand. Today, Flypower products have gained acceptance in international markets, including Singapore, the Philippines, Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, South Korea, India, Australia, France, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and the United States.
When the Indonesian Badminton Association (PP PBSI), under the leadership of Gita Wirjawan, opened the opportunity for individual sponsorships for players at the Cipayung National Training Center, Flypower was inspired to sponsor 19 national team players, including Angga Pratama/Rian Agung Saputro. With these individual contracts, it is hoped that the players will continue to grow and achieve even greater success on the international stage.
Flypower has a grand vision: to continue growing and making a mark on the global badminton market.

Everything starts from the ground up. This is also true for the birth of Flypower. In early 2002, Fung Permadi and Hariyanto Arbi, who had recently stepped down from the Cipayung National Training Center, had a strong desire to start a badminton equipment business.
Hariyanto Arbi believed that every business must begin from the bottom. With this philosophy in mind, he launched Flypower, with badminton shoes as their first product. To introduce the shoes, he collaborated with players from PB Djarum and athletes from the Cipayung National Training Center.
Before the shoes were officially launched, they were tested by the All England champion of 1993 and 1994, as well as the 1995 World Champion in Lausanne, Switzerland. The results of these trials were carefully reviewed to create a product that was comfortable and suitable for anyone aspiring to succeed in badminton.
Our first product, the shoes, received a positive response. Both players and members of the national badminton community were interested in this new product. This encouraged Hariyanto Arbi to continue developing the business he had started.
In addition to shoes, we expanded our product line to include t-shirts, shorts, rackets, and other badminton equipment. With every new product launched, Flypower has consistently met market tastes and trends.
We are always improving the performance and quality of our products—from design and materials to comfort—to support player performance on the court.
Beyond product quality, Flypower began actively participating in the advancement of badminton achievements in Indonesia. After sponsoring several local championships, Flypower became a co-sponsor of the nation’s most prestigious badminton tournament, the Djarum National Circuit, in 2011 and 2012.

The 2013 Djarum Superliga champion, Musica Champion Kudus, was also fully supported by Flypower.
Like a snowball, Flypower’s distribution has continued to grow and expand. Today, Flypower products are accepted globally, in markets such as Singapore, the Philippines, Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, South Korea, India, Australia, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United States.
When the leadership of PP PBSI under Gita Wirjawan opened opportunities for individual sponsorships for national athletes at the Cipayung National Training Center, Flypower responded by signing contracts with 19 national players, including Angga Pratama and Rian Agung Saputro. Through these individual contracts, we hope the players can continue to grow and achieve greater success on the international stage.
Flypower has a big dream: to keep expanding and enriching the global badminton market.
